These kind of horror-endings to sci-fi stories always cheapen my overall feelings about the story (I think of King's "The Jaunt"); but unlike King's story, this one isn't dustbunny fluff, and is (I might say hackneyedly say) is prescient in 1951 as a short story about video games, or VR, or social media, or anything else the children in this or that wife in Fahrenheit 451 might be addicted to today.
